You’ve worked so hard to create this space, now it’s time to showcase your hard work, so let’s make sure we are (over)prepared to capture your vision!

• Scout photos: If we didn’t scout the home in person, have you sent snapshots ahead of time?

• Styling: Do you know what we need ahead of time for successful styling?

  • Do you know what you need for styling props? Have you planned on bringing more than you need?

  • Have you bought florals and/or greens?

  • Are you able to style ahead of time? It’s best to style the night before, or plan on arriving early to start styling. Of course we can move things around when we get there, but being prepared with styling ahead of time allows us not to feel rushed on photo day

  • How “lived in” is the space? If the space needs some decluttering, have you talked with your client about removing their belongings?

• Setting expectations with your client: Have you clearly communicated what we are doing and our timeline? Some home owners have no idea what to expect from a photoshoot, so it’s important that we let them know how long we will be there, and also find out ahead of time if we need to work around their schedules, kids, dogs, or any other obstacles.

• Tentative shot list: We don’t need to know exactly what shots we are going for, but it’s super helpful if you know which angles or features of the space you are most in love with

  • Are we shooting for anything specific aside from your website? Do we need to think about shooting in horizontal or vertical orientation?

  • Are you planning on pitching to a specific publication?

Extra styling props that you may want to have on hand:

• Various colored and textured throws and pillows

• Hardcover art, design, and/or fashion books

• Large bowls, vases, and misc vessels

• Fruit, florals, greens

• Large organic shaped items to fill bookcases

• Soap, soap dish, clean towels,

• Extra of anything you think may compliment the room!
